There is clear evidence suggesting that individual's mental health is strongly impacted by their financial wellbeing. 

 

The majority of UK adults claim that their financial situation is the leading cause of stress in their lives.  Employers play a key part in supporting and improving their employees' financial wellbeing, with this improving workplace productivity and reducing employee stress-related absenteeism.

Our research into the link between mental health and financial wellbeing has discovered that:

  • 32% of UK adults struggle with day-to-day tasks due to financial stress
  • 33% of employees want more help with managing their finances 
  • 68% of employees have not seen a wage increase despite inflation 
  • 77% of UK adults worry that they will not be able to retire at all if their current financial situation does not improve
